Hello and welcome to Design Junction Winchester!

We’re Jake & Amy, and we created this warm, creative space in the heart of Winchester because we believe everyone deserves to explore their artistic side in a friendly, supportive community. Whether you’re trying pottery for the first time, tufting your own rug, or just popping in for a creative chat, we’re thrilled you’re here.

We take your privacy seriously (even if we’re more comfortable with clay and yarn than legal jargon!). This Privacy Policy explains in plain, straightforward English what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it when you visit designjunction.uk or interact with us.

1. Who we are

33 Creative Studio Ltd (trading as Design Junction Winchester) Company number: 13913466 Registered office: Design Junction, 5-6 Kings Walk, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23 8AF

We’re a small independent limited company run by Jake and Amy.

2. What information do we collect?

We only collect the information we genuinely need to run our workshops and keep in touch with our creative community. This may include:

  • Contact details — Name, email address, phone number
  • Booking information — Workshop details (date, type of session, number of guests)
  • Payment information — We do not store your full card details. Payments are processed securely by our third-party booking and payment partners.
  • Correspondence & feedback — Messages you send us via email, our contact form, or in person
  • Quiz responses — Answers to our “which class is right for you?” quiz (we only link them to you if you choose to provide contact details)
  • Technical data — When you browse our website (powered by Shopify), we may collect standard information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and pages visited for analytics and to improve your experience.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health or racial information) unless you voluntarily share something relevant for accessibility, safety, or workshop adjustments — and only with your clear consent.

3. Why do we collect your information? (Lawful basis)

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Performance of a contract — To process your workshop booking and deliver the experience you’ve paid for.
  • Legitimate interests — To run and improve our studio, manage our community, and send you occasional updates about new classes or events.
  • Consent — For non-essential cookies and marketing communications (you can withdraw this at any time).
  • Legal obligation — To maintain basic records for tax, accounting, and regulatory purposes.

4. How do we use your information?

We use it to:

  • Process and confirm your bookings
  • Send you essential class information (what to bring, timings, cancellation policy, etc.)
  • Respond to your enquiries
  • Improve our workshops based on feedback
  • Send occasional studio news, new workshop announcements, or special events (only if you’ve given us permission)
  • Understand how people use our website and make it better
  • Comply with legal and accounting requirements

We will never sell your data or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Who do we share your information with?

We only share the minimum necessary with trusted partners who help us operate smoothly:

  • Booking and scheduling platforms (e.g. Acuity Scheduling, ClassBento or similar)
  • Email service providers (for booking confirmations and permitted newsletters)
  • Payment processors
  • Professional advisers (accountants or legal support when required)
  • Law enforcement or regulators — only where we are legally obliged to do so

All partners are based in the UK or have appropriate data protection safeguards and contracts in place with us.

6. How long do we keep your information?

We keep your data only for as long as we need it:

  • Workshop and booking records — usually up to 6 years (for accounting and legal reasons)
  • Marketing preferences — until you ask us to stop
  • Website analytics data — typically 2 years or less

After that, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Under UK law you have several important rights, including:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you
  • The right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies
  • The right to request deletion of your data (in certain circumstances)
  • The right to object to or restrict processing
  • The right to withdraw consent for marketing at any time
  • The right to data portability (where applicable)

To exercise any of these rights, simply email us at designjunctionwinchester@gmail.com. We’ll usually respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): www.ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint

8. Cookies and website tracking

Our Shopify website uses cookies to make everything work smoothly and to help us understand how visitors use the site. Some are essential; others are for analytics and improved experience.

When you first visit, you’ll see a cookie banner where you can manage your preferences. You can change your settings at any time through your browser.

We’ll add a separate short Cookie Policy soon for full transparency — feel free to ask us about specific cookies in the meantime.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally as our studio grows. Any changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date. If the updates are significant, we’ll try to let you know directly.
